Floral Wedding Do's
by Ashley Krest of Field Florals
41391 Omega Road • Paonia, Colorado
(970) 527-4541

Ashley Krest has been cultivating bountiful fields of flowers, and selling them for the last twelve years.  She started Stinky Blooms Flower Farm with her husband Ted in 2000, offering weekly bouquets in Paonia, Colorado and hauling their colorful bundles of flowers to Farmers’ Markets.  Since then Ashley and Field Florals has been designing and delivering earth friendly wedding flowers to locations across the western slope. This summer Field Florals has put together a quick list of “Wedding Do’s” to ensure a breathtaking day in perfect harmony with Colorado’s celebrated landscape.

1. Use flowers grown in Colorado; this means finding a florist who is willing to buy local, or at least use in season material.

2. You will be remembered when you use scented foliage, herbs, and flowers.

3. Bouquets and arrangements become keepsakes when you include ‘everlastings’ - flowers that dry well.

4. Honor those you love with botanical adornments.

5. Lavender blues, Mauves lend a vintage look.

6. Tuck flowers in powder rooms, entries, and nooks.

7. Ceremony arrangements encore at the reception.

8.Use a pinch of lavender to toss at the happy couple.

9. Include in season fruit and vegetables in your floral designs.

10. Extend the beauty of the day by donating the flowers to community organizations/services.
