Piper & Travis Ward
Married 7/7/07 -Glenwood Springs, Colorado
THE DETAILS
Number of Guests: 150
How long to plan the wedding: Eight (8) months.
Wedding Site: Sunlight Mountain Ski Resort. We chose Sunlight Mountain Resort because my mom was married there almost 25 years ago and I learned to ski there before I learned to walk. Plus, the mountain view is absolutely breathtaking!!
The Theme/Décor
My color was yellow so my bridesmaids wore long yellow dresses, not too fancy but not at all casual. They looked fabulous!
The Flowers
My bridesmaids all had clutch-style bouquets made of yellow long stem roses with some really pretty greenery. My Maid of Honor had a cascading bouquet with twelve yellow roses, some stephanotis and a little freesia with ivy for greenery. My bouquet was similar to my Maid of Honor but bigger. They were absolutely beautiful! All the men wore boutonnieres of a single yellow rose as did our 18 month old son. (So cute) We also had a large piece for the head table with yellow roses.
The Food
We had a buffet style dinner of honey glazed ham, chicken alfredo pasta, mixed vegetables, salad and rolls. It was simple and most delicious. It was prepared by Sunlight Mountain. We had appetizers before the dinner of mini spring rolls and veggie trays.
The Favors
We had programs for our guests, bird seed bags, bubbles and centerpieces for them to take home with them. We also kept disposable cameras on the tables for guests to take candids with!
Special Touches
Well, I was six months pregnant and couldn't find any cute shoes with no heels (I would of dwarfed my husband), my bridesmaids and I went barefoot and pregnant!! We all went out the day before and spend our shoe money on pedicures. We were so cute!
Best thing about the Day
That everyone, guests, family and friends were there for me. It was a shock to see how many people would come so far to witness the joining of two hearts that they really care about. It was the best day of my life!!
What went wrong
Lets see, a few things but we've decided that if we tried to be perfect, we would of gone postal! :) The wedding started a little late, but what wedding starts on time?? I had a veil to cover my face but we forgot to put it over my face when I walked! It started pouring rain 30 minutes before the wedding so we had to put everyone under a big tent but ya know, that's what made it a real wedding to me is that it wasn't perfect. But to me it was! Don't know if that makes sense!
What would you do Different
I would of not been such a procrastinator. I would of tried to be more on top of things.
My Advice
It's never to early to start planning! Also, embrace every moment of your wedding because it doesn't last long!
